Spooky Lunch Bunch

We are really getting into the Halloween mood around here. We have plans to carve pumpkins tomorrow night and I have been trying to spook up lunches or snacks when I have the time. Here is yesterday’s lunch.

The top photo is B’s lunch (in a plastic tombstone tray that we got 2 years ago? I think Tom got these) His witch sandwich is made from flat bread cut into a witch shape. She flys over broccoli trees, and her cat friend joins her in some cheese cubes (looking back these would be awesome cut into sickle moons). SLiced apple mouths with teeth made from almonds.

My lunch was made from his leftover bread. I thought it looked like a full moon with the shadow of the witch flying across. Of course if I owned a black plate the effect would work better…I made a cheese quesadilla and a put her cat friend into my toppings. The stars are cut from red peppers (yellow peppers would look more like stars but this is what I had on hand haha).

I have been reading spooky books at night as well…I read Coraline for the first time the other night. It is really good (young adult?), and a nice quick read. Very Alice In Wonderland-esque. I have also started Nocturnes which is a collection of short stories from John Connolly. I really liked his book The Book Of Lost Things and was able to get the short stories book from Bookmooch! They both have really great paper cut covers too.

For even more Halloween goodness check out One Pretty Thing’s Halloween Roundup. So very many ideas over there!

ETA-Someone mentioned a Coraline film coming out so I did a little Googling and look, wow it looks sooo good!
