Da Tou Wa Wa

Well besides planning for Crafty Bastards (which is tomorrow!! So come on out and say hello!) I have also been planning my son’s 15th birthday party. His birthday is this week, and so party planning for him is always mixed in with planning for Crafty Bastards :)

He asked for a cake this year that lead us on a asian inspired sort of party. We are going to take all our favorite asian influences like origami, dragon kites, Hayao Miyazaki, ramen noodles, lanterns, Pocky..the list goes on and on, and turn it into a party. It has been so fun planning for the party and I will have some posts this week with DIYs, invitations, etc. Anyhow when shopping for goodies for the party I came across this mask. It is a Chinese New Year mask called Da Tou Wa Wa (or big head doll) I had to get one for myself.

She will make a great party decoration–then she’s going up to my studio to live. I love her big head so much!

Happy October 1st—my book Every Day’s A Holiday officially releases today!! If you have a copy and want to post a review, I would really appreciate that! Also I am going to start a Flickr group so everyone can post photos of stuff they have made from the book. All coming this week. I need to check out the local bookshops to see if I can snap a photo of a copy in the wild!
