Thrifting Thursday – Santa in the Summer

The Summertime is one of my favorite times to find weird Christmas items at the thrift shops. We have quite a few places that will do a “Christmas in July” sale, or start setting up a Christmas section in August. Since I am the kind of person who display’s my favorite Santa’s year round…this kind of thing is right up my alley.
My sister found me the giant Santa you see above. She texted me from a thrift shop asking if I wanted him, and she had some fun driving around with him buckled in her front seat until we could meet up. He is so big that he will probably go into a big plastic bin in the attic until Christmas-time. It will be like having a life sized Santa hanging around!
The crocheted Santa bottle cozy was a pretty exciting find from a thrifting trip. I have a few crocheted poodles, but had never seen a Santa before. I tried to find a free pattern online but only found one on Ebay for sale. But if your handy with the crochet hook I bet you could come up with a wonderful santa just by looking at photos of them!

I love the stuffed Santa! Im always looking for one. My mom still has (and puts out every year) the stuffed Santa in a chimney from when I was born. Its really old. He is a little worse for wear but now sits at Christmas looking our the leaded glass side light of the front door.

Colleen, Oh I’ve never seen one this size before. I love that your mom puts out the santa each year, what a lovely tradition! He is such a cute one, and I love the chimney!
