Since I’ve been on a vintage book kick I thought I would share two books I’ve been on the look out for. I prefer to look in used book shops, thrift shops, and yard sales for my kid’s books…so I am sure I could find this on ebay or Etsy quite easily, but part of the fun is in the hunt. These two little books have been on my radar for a bit now, its the anthropomorphic characters that steal my heart! They are both Whitman Tell-A-Tale books, perfect little sized pocket books. I can’t seem to find any author info online for the runaway pancake, but it seems to have the same story line as the gingerbread man, which has me wondering if it includes death-by-fox.
What great illustrations! I remember The Runaway Pancake!!! (Rob)

The art is by Ben Williams and the story is almost the same as on this folklore page!

Good luck with your search! It’s a beautiful book!
Rob, I agree—such cuteness! One day I will find that pancake book!
thanks so much Mary :)
My daughter would love the run away pancake! She is a fan of the ginger bread story. So cool.
