Waverize It

I know my blog has been a little empty for the past week or so, I was on a six road-trip to Maine for my grandfather’s memorial service, it was quite an experience to be back up in Maine with my Dad’s side of the family (I had not been there since I was 16) but that will have to be a whole post in itself, I have some film to get developed this week so I can share.
This post is actually a bit tardy due to my trip…but better late then never, right? The lovely folks at Jo-ann Fabric & Craft Stores and Waverly are celebrating National Sewing Month with a Waverize challenge and asked bloggers to be a part of it. They sent me two yards of surprise fabric to create something I could share with my readers.
Waverly is celebrating their 90th anniversary and hosting a contest on Facebook to celebrate here. You could win up to 9 yards of fabric and a gift card, so check it out! (But hurry the contest ends on the 22nd!!)

I decided to make a big roomy tote that not only can hold 3 quilts, but also makes taking packages to the post office a breeze! No more loading up trashbags to carry them in. This tote took a little over one yard to make. The tote itself uses one yard of fabric, and then you need a little more for the handles. It folds up quite small, so it’s great for keeping in your glove box until you need it. I created a little illustrated tutorial to explain how to make your own oversized tote here.
