We started lots of seeds indoors a few weeks back based on a chart I printed out from here. We are growing a variety of sunflowers this year, and I was most excited about the titan sunflowers. Unfortunately most of the titans became long and spindly and broke off, so we are going to try direct sowing the ret of the seeds after out last frost instead.

You might like to plant the sunflowers against a ‘bean trellis’, something as simple as 2 vertical poles with rope tied back and forth to add support for the stalks, you can even tie the sunflower to the trellis later on if it starts to lean over. Happy gardening!

Thanks for the tips Caylie! I think I am going to do the trellis, I am just about to plant them outside and they are still looking pretty sad. I’m going to get some of the extra seeds in the ground too, so we shall see how they turn out!
