Art & Disney

When we were at Disney in April I knew I wanted to make sure and check out Mary Blair’s beautiful tile mural in the Contemporary Resort. Seven stories high the mural consists of 18,000 hand-painted tiles!! Below are a couple of photos I took at The Polynesian of concept art by Mary Blair.

I got to catch the showing of her work at the Disney Heritage museum last year and wow. It was all kinds of inspiring and magical. Totally amazing body of work.

Ivonne, Oh that sounds amazing! I’ve only ever seen her work elsewhere when the Eric Carle museum was doing a show on book art when we happened to be in the area. It was pretty inspiring :)

Kim, I bet that was such an amazing experience! This was actually my first time ever in the Polynesian! I loved it. We were staying at The Wilderness Lodge but had dinner at the Polynesian one night, such a good time

It was really hard to get pictures of the framed work cause of the glare but I did get a handful of good ones in case you want to see. It was super inspiring. I have a couple postcards they gave out as a scavenger hunt. if you want them I can mail them to you :) drop me an email with a snail mail address and they’re yours
