lets get this party started..

We have been party planning this morning. We are having a birthday party on Saturday for our littlest one. I can’t believe he is turning 6! He requested the tree stump cake again so we are doing a sort of growing theme. He is big on gardening and helping in the yard.

We bought little clay pots and ran them through the dishwasher. Then we filled them with chocolate eggs and little chicks. Next we found some flower seeds for only .20 each. I wanted to include soil so the kids would have everything right there to grow something…but wasn’t sure how to package it. I had these plastic bags in the attic and they seal so I figured at least the soil wouldn’t leak, but now I wish I had done something like coffee filters or newspaper? I am going to try and sew up fabric pouches using the instructions found here. We had ten kids rsvp but I am always worried that more will come, so instead of letters I think I am going to do a leaf or something…and then I can make a couple extra bags just incase.

Today is all about figuring out the games + food + party details. It is supposed to be slightly cloudy (but not rainy) on Saturday, so I am hoping we can do a lot of the games outside. I’m off to work on to-do lists.

If I had a kid in your son’s class at school, I’d make sure my kid was at every party you hosted and I’d come along too just to help out of course. Those little pots are so precious!

These are so cute! I love that your party is not the typical “boy” thing. My sis-in-law is all abouts trucks and cars every year. The nature idea rocks!
