The other night (4/28/06 to be exact) our ipod was having all sorts of trouble. If you remember this photo from my Flickr account a few weeks ago, when our ipod first acted up, you’ll know it was frusterating to say the least. Well Tom came home from work the other night and said the ipod had been acting weird. He tried playing a song for me on it and it stopped mid-play. I picked it up, and tried resetting the ipod…then suddenly it appeared!! The sad ipod icon, so sad, yet oh so cute! “What does it mean?? What does it mean?” Tom kept asking….and I knew what it meant alright, it had X’s for eyes for gods sake, it was not good.
According to the apple website, sometimes the ipod can be reset or restored to factory settings. The resets didn’t help, and we had recently removed all the music files from our computer (yup..no back up of all those cd’s we had added one by one) We are taking over 5 days of music! So we didn’t want to try restoring without somehow getting all those songs backed up. Lucky for us Tom has a super computer savy brother, who took our ipod into his loving home for the night. He carefully saved all our music to CD, and reformatted our ipod on his computer. So it appears that it might still work, though the hardrive was making the omnious clicking sounds before (signs of a dying hard drive) I guess for now we shall wait and see if the little ipoddy pulls through. Anyhow, when we thought the worst Tom asked me to sew him a plush ipod with wings to hang above his station at work, the place where he takes the ipod and listens to it ALL day long….which is what you see above.
Today B and I met Amanda and B’s cousin for some hking in the woods behind their house. They moved recently and now live less then 5 miles from us. Its so nice! Their backyard is basically this amazing park, with all sorts of trails, a river, etc. The last photo on the right is Amanda with E on her back. We hiked for so long that I think the kids were a bit worn out, but it was nice. Then I took her out to a new coffeeshop I found a few weeks ago. Its a little small family run shop that makes awesome sandwiches with crazy things like garlic jelly!? Anyhow, a very nice afternoon. Now I have to stop at the post office to ship orders and then head over to the library to stock up on some more books.
I recently read Slaughterhouse Five (or The Children’s Crusade) and absolutly loved it. Now I keep picking up any other books I find by Kurt Vonnegut, I started Cats Cradle a few nights ago and am enjoying that as well. Anyone else a fan?
