The lovely folks at Storey Publishing have given me a copy of this fun cookie book Cookie Craft Christmas to give away—-and 3 sets of cookie craft cards to giveaway as well.
The first thing that struck me about the book, is its small stature. I love it, it is so cute and hardcover. The photos are all so good, and I love that so many of the cookies can be easily made using cookie cutters that most people probably already have on hand. While it is not really so much a recipe book, it is decorating how-to. The book also has all sorts of helpful hints of packing cookies for mailing, shipping, and cookie swap parties. I was very tempted to keep this book for myself :)
Here is how the giveaway works…leave a comment on this entry telling me your favorite kind of cookie by Tues Dec. 1st (at 11 am EST) and I will use the random number generator to pick winners. The first number picked wins the book, and the next 3 each win a cute little folder with 4 cookie cards and matching envelopes.
My favorite kind of cookie is the Snickerdoodle. Always reminds me of being a kid!
~Dawn

It’s hard to pick a favorite type of cookie, especially with my mother’s baking, but I’d have to say Russian teacakes. I can eat a million of them!

Comment by gina 11.27.09 @ 5:52 pmI am a sucker for a good Ginger molasses. I love this giveaway.
Comment by Ellen 11.27.09 @ 6:05 pmMy favorite cookies would probably be the cookie cutter cookies (they were just a basic sugar cookie) that I recently made for Halloween. I had never done the cookies before & I horribly messed them up b/c the cookbook I used was done in international measurements so anyone can use it. Long story short, they came out flat as a pancake and didn’t hold their shapes because I didn’t have enough of anything in them. They were actually delicious but not as delicious as when I tried again & got the recipe correct.
Comment by Megan 11.27.09 @ 6:40 pmMy favorite type of cookies are peanut butter cookies. :)

Comment by Miki V 11.27.09 @ 6:46 pmI love the classic chocolate chip. But when Christmas and other holidays come around I break out the good ol’ shortbread. It’s just so much fun to decorate. I have to be careful though because I cannot resist eating the dough.

Comment by Christine Kennedy 11.27.09 @ 7:31 pmMy favorite cookies on earth are Pfeffernüsse. Every year I swear I am going to learn how to make them, and then I stock up on boxes from Trader Joe’s instead.
Comment by Annika 11.27.09 @ 7:38 pmI’m a sucker for oreos- mostly because they are vegan! I love making Christmas cookies more than eating them!
Comment by Tara T 11.27.09 @ 7:38 pmSaying I have one favorite cookie seems like a disingenuous claim. They are all so good! But if I absolutely had to pick one, I think it would be homemade Samoas, or Carmel DeLites.
Comment by Emily 11.27.09 @ 8:07 pmMy favorite kind of cookies are chocolate chip!! :]
Comment by Jonnie 11.27.09 @ 8:18 pmI’d have to say Sugar cookies are amazing. :D
But Chocolate Chip cookies are the original and all-time winners.
I’m not going to lie, I’ve always favored Snickerdoodles.. but icing Gingerbread cookies for Christmas always overcomes all.
Comment by Quynh Huong 11.27.09 @ 9:38 pmOh man, the Sandwich Cookies. From my mom’s mom. They are only made at the post-Thanksgiving cookiethon with my mom and aunt and I. Little flakey, buttery cookies with a super rich buttercream filling. The essence of Christmas. Eaten with Toffee Bar cookies (the close second) while reading To Kill a Mockingbird by the tree is the ultimate Christmas luxury.

Comment by Amanda 11.28.09 @ 11:03 amMy favorite holiday cookies are called Swedish Raisin Rocks. Apparently named because if you leave them in the oven a moment too long, they are as hard as rocks. I’ve never tried making them but this might be the year.
Comment by Jennifer M 11.28.09 @ 11:18 amThat book looks awesome!! I love reading your blog because I’m in such a small Canadian city, my one and only bookstore never carries books like this. Comment by Dianne 11.28.09 @ 2:12 pmI remember when I was little, my classmate was giving away cookies for the class. When he came to me, which was last, all that was left was oatmeal raisin. I had never tried it, and at the time I favored only chocolate chip, so getting a cookie that’s name almost.. repulsed me made me quite sad.
After that incident, however, I have always loved oatmeal raisin. It was the great taste that made me love them.:)
Chocolate chip cookies slightly brown on the bottom and soft on the top will always be my favorite.
Comment by Octavia 11.28.09 @ 3:35 pmThanks for the giveaway!
Chocolate peanut butter cookies
I love SUGARCOOKIES for the holidays, simply because they are the BEST to decorate. Of course this is quickly followed by chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, cranberry oatmeal and the list goes on and on. Homemade cookies are my absolute favorite when it comes to holiday memories :) PS My sister’s birthday is on Dec. 1st!
Comment by Michelle K. 11.28.09 @ 4:48 pmMy favorite kind were the green christmas trees (made with a cookie press) with red sugar sprinkles that my mom has made in the past. I think it was a almond butter sort of cookie. What is your favorite?
Comment by Jennifer 11.28.09 @ 6:05 pmThat book really is too cute! My favourite cookies? Hm. I love fresh, hot chocolate chip cookies that came out of the oven two minutes past, where the chocolate is all melty.
Either that, or sugar cookies. Or butter cookies.
Comment by Piston 11.28.09 @ 6:47 pmRight now my favorite cookies are s’mores cookies. I came across the recipe on the domestic scientist’s blog a while back and they totally rock and they bring back girl scout memories without me having to burn marshmallows over my gas stovetop.

Comment by Amanda 11.29.09 @ 4:38 pmThe required Christmas cookies here are Dooley’s (so named for a neighbor of a great-grandparent). They’re actually thumb print cookies. We have to make ones with stawberry jam rolled in walnuts for the latest generation, and ones with raspberry jam and pecans for the grands. Oh, and ones without nuts for the youngest. Yummy!
