Kurtis didn’t trick or treat this year, which kind of makes me sad. Instead he wanted to wear this shark attack costume he found at Goodwill and walk around with his friends. B on the other hand wanted to dress up as chimney sweep from Mary Poppins. At his school they get to dress up as a storybook character, and some years he will pick a different costume for trick or treating. However this year he wanted to wear it for both, which made it really easy!
I found the vest at the thrift shop, and the pants, shirt, hat, and gloves are just from Target. We made the scarf with some grey knit fabric, dirtied up his face with black eyeshadow (he didnt want a lot), and made the chimney brush from things we found at Lowes. We looked into actually chimney sweep brushes but they were very stiff and we worried could hurt someone if they got poked accidentally.

I like the idea of the story character costumes. My sixth grade reading teacher would do that once a month and I would always be Anastasia Krupnik. She was my hero.
I hope you guys weathered the storm. I have so many friends and family in PA and the DC area. I’ve been worried about them.
I love how your community is out for passing out candy! In my part of the south we get rain every other year on halloween but it usually stops before the evening so the kids get to go out trick or treating.
Oh, I love your Trick or Treat photos! The shark costume is very cool, and I absolutely love the chimney sweep costume…very awesome! Our Trick or Treat was scheduling for tonight but was postponed to this Saturday due to the storm. Turns out we could’ve had it tonight…but honestly…it is so cold and rainy…so this Saturday will be a lot better weather!
The Land of Nod is using your plushies as there website background!
looks like so much fun, and awesome weather, lucky. We get zero trick or treaters. And my little guy is done walking after about 5 houses. Great chimney sweeper, quite imaginative too!
