Since I’ve been on a vintage book kick I thought I would share two books I’ve been on the look out for. I prefer to look in used book shops, thrift shops, and yard sales for my kid’s books…so I am sure I could find this on ebay or Etsy quite easily, but part of the fun is in the hunt. These two little books have been on my radar for a bit now, its the anthropomorphic characters that steal my heart! They are both Whitman Tell-A-Tale books, perfect little sized pocket books. I can’t seem to find any author info online for the runaway pancake, but it seems to have the same story line as the gingerbread man, which has me wondering if it includes death-by-fox.
I was really excited to be asked by Bear and Bird Gallery
in Lauderhill, FL to curate this show. I’ll be there for opening night on Friday June 28th 7-10pm and then for a Yummy Meet & Greet on Saturday June 29th 3-4pm. Please come out and see all the amazing new work inspired by cherished classic Golden Book stories! I can’t wait to share some sneak peeks of the stuff I have been working on for this show soon!
Always a sucker for the details…
Little Boy With A Big Horn
a Little Golden Book
By Jack Bechdolt
Illustrated by Aurelius Battaglia
I love this book so much that I actually got that amazing farmer tattooed on me. I cleaned out the bookshelves last night and it reminded me that I needed to post some more books!
The Blue Nosed Witch
by Margaret Embry
I love Halloween books, but this one especially….it involves witches & donuts–what’s not to love?
