Yarn + Breakfast foods..

I added some new yarn to the shop today. I have been spinning a little more then normally. I like switching around between sewing/spinning/painting etc. I am in awe of people who just focus on one set thing. I could never do that.

I also added two more toaster purses to the shop, and will be adding two more on Monday. Today the kids are off school for a teacher in-service day. So we have library plans, and then hopefully to the big spinning shop so I can pick up some more wool. I ordered 5,000 new business cards yesterday…I have been out of cards for so long! I really wanted to get the rounded corners, but that would have been an extra $100, and I just could not justify that.

I hope to check out the book Housekeeping after reading Alicia’s lovely entry about it. When she said “ For so long I’d felt like Housekeeping was my book, somehow — a secret I shared only with those I trusted completely, and I would offer it up to them two-handed, with an earnest, twitching hopefulness: Love this (and me), please. ” I was so stunned, because this is precisly how I feel about my most favorite books! Like little secrets that I never wanted to share, except of course with someone most special. :) Such a beauitful entry!

While on the subject of books a couple of friends of mine have created book groups online. One on livejournal ReadWriteRecite and one on Myspace Reading Repartee

Smores..

More plush for the one of a kind plush show..although I am not 100% happy with him. He may end up being a practice one if the next one I try comes out better. Look at that top graham cracker, all crooked! I could try and act like I did it on purpose, but that would be a big fat lie :)

My new favorite shirt. I wish you could tell from the photo, but the whole shirt is covered in numbers. Little tiny numbers. It was an ugly turtleneck (no offense to anyone who can rock the fitted cotton turtleneck, I am just not one of you) I found it at goodwill and had to buy it. Little tiny black numbers all over! I figured I would alter the collar somehow like I did to another goodwill turtleneck (that was royal blue and covered in amazing flowers!) But with the last one I used my serger and created a scoop neck sort of tank top out of it. I had the number turt hanging around for a couple of weeks, and while I really wanted to wear it..I was too lazy to alter it. So instead I cut down the front of the turtle neck and it magically turned into the nice neck you see above! Ohh Ahhh…Ok, so maybe that is very obvious to a lot of people, but I never would have thought about it, so I thought I should share :)

Tuesday night I got my “Kevin Scalzo painting” tattoo finished (Kevin/Djerba I will email you a photo very very soon!) it looks awesome, Eric did a great job! Then he took us to an amazing Japanese restaurant. Some of the best food I have eaten in a very long time. We plan to drag some friends there soon (my excuse to go back and eat more yummy stuff) The night before Eric tattooed me, Tom tattooed the back of my leg. Its a bird and roses that he drew for me. He said I am a sissy for not letting him finish it all, but its big from the back of my knee down to my ankle…so sissy-pants? I think not. I sat through the outline, and shading, then he did some of the coloring..Then I said “feel free to stop whenever you want”..haha

Tree Stump #2

Tree stump #2, I wanted to see how it would look with a bark that was unified. I have one more try for the stumps before I make a desicion for the large one. A couple of people have been asking about buying stumps..These little guys will be going to a show at Gallery 1988 in LA next month along with a bunch of other one of a kind plushies. That shows runs from Feb. 7-14. The Flora + Fauna show is in March at Hobby Horse in Berkeley CA. I will post more info once I find out the dates.

Here you can see the stumps together.

Back to books again I just finished reading the book Lit Riffs Edited by Matthew Miele. Basically they had authors “cover” a song by writing a short story based on the song of their choice. I picked it up for two reasons. #1 Aimee Bender was one of the writers and #2 Someone covered a Tom Wait’s song. I really enjoyed it, and what an awesome idea for a book. It was really interesting to see how each author interperted the project just a little bit differently then the next.
