My March Hare..

It is March! It came so quickly, and yet so slowly! So many things are going on in March that I feel busy all ready (and its only day one) One of my personal goals this year was to learn more about Photoshop. I feel like I just barely scratch the surface of the cool stuff I could be able to do with it. I should really take some sort of class, but hey who has time for that?
Tonight I finally figured out how to do dotted lines, you have no idea how happy this makes me. I also figured out how to round the corners on photos…then couldnt retrace my steps to repeat it with the next photo. I’ll have to work on that (and yes none of these photos have the rounded corners :)

I made these teeny tiny zippered bags last week because I found an amazing deal on short zippers that I could not pass up. Now I am the proud owner of about 100 little zippers, in a rainbow of colors. So I made these bags and plan to silkscreen some tiny tags to go through like a zipper pull, an image of some sort.

Todays entry is a late one because I spent most of my day driving. Driving to find more of the pink wool felt I needed (and did not order wholesale over the phone in time) I ran out….and I really thought I would make it before needing to place another order. I was wrong, haha. So I have to drive about 45 minutes one way to get more because all my local fabric stores were out of the pink. It must have been bought up for all the Valentines?

Pancake Day

Did you know that it was pancake day? No? Well neither did we till we went out to breakfast at IHOP and had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Turns out according to the folks at IHOP that today is National Pancake Day (also known as Shrove Tuesday/Fat Tuesday) Everyone gets a free short stack and they have volunteers on hand collecting money for local charities. So win win for everyone!

Tonight the kids and I are going to make a king cake to celebrate our own little Mardi Gras. A plastic baby is baked inside the King Cake, and the tradition is whoever receives the baby in their piece of cake must buy the next King Cake or throw the next party. King Cakes are made of a cinnamon filled dough in the shape of a hollow circle. The cake is topped with a delicious glazed topping and then sprinkled with colored sugar. Personally I am thrilled about the possiblilty of finding the plastic baby in my slice!!

Thanks for all the comments and emails from yesterdays post. It is so nice to be able to talk about these kinds of things with people who go through the same feelings! I am doing my best to reply to everyone.

Today was a perfect day out, sun shining, and not too cold. We actually woke up to powdery snow everywhere, but it melted away pretty quickly. Tom and I went to all the local thrift and goodwill shops and found some fun stuff. I only got to photograph one of our purchases though and then my camera batteries died, and we are out!

We found this great chalkboard/wipeboard easel for the kids for $8.00 It has nice deep trays on both sides for holding paint/chalk etc. I figure we will just clothespin the paper to the top when they want to paint!
