Sometimes insomnia is a really good thing. Last night I lay in bed and thought about making a giant sized toilet paper roll (I made it too, but will post photos of that tomorrow) Well rather then lay there for a few more hours thinking of stuff I wanted to sew, I got up to do it. Poor Tom was asleep yet didn’t seem the least bit surprised when as I am getting out of bed I say “I’m gonna go sew a huge toilet paper” :) Nothing (in relation to sewing) seems odd in this household.
Anyhow after I had finished the toilet paper roll (sized perfectly for the BFG
I might add) I still didn’t feel tired so I decided to undertake the tree project I had been thinking about lately. Its about two feet tall, and a little over two feet wide, with branch span. I bought some burlap a while ago and it made me think about the trees waiting to be planted. Their little roots and dirt balled up in burlap. I hope to get a few different looking trees made, but everytime I post about something I am “going” to make I feel like I never get it done. Remember the venus fly trap? Well it looked like poop, so i never finished it. See! Once again a project I talked about before it was finished-ruined! Oh and my little tip for insomnia. When you can’t sleep get up and do something until you can…BUT force your self to still get up at the normal waking time (me 7am) no matter what time it is you finally get to bed (me 1:30am) Otherwise your going to sleep in and continue your insomnia the following night, a vicious circle!
Anyhow, someone emailed me saying a lot of my links on the link page are not working. I didn’t get to click through them all yet. But, if you happen to notice your link isn’t working please let me know and I will fix it right away!

Oh how I wish these amazing guys
lived at my house! Look at those cute pink bodies–swoon!
This little fella went with all the other plush to LA for the G1988 Plush Week show. I forgot to post a picture of him with the other guys under the “news” section. Its no wonder he is sad!
I did some “mid-winter” cleaning of my fiber stash today. It has been out of hand for quite awhile. So I went through and took out either #1 stuff I have had for a long time and have never used. Or #2 Things I used a little of, and probably wouldn’t use more of for awhile. I came away with 5lbs of fiber to sell. I listed it up on Ebay.
It feels weird to sell something on Ebay again. I haven’t in over three or four years!
In this family if there is one thing we like to do..its read. We got to the library a lot, but we also frequent the local used bookstores (and we have some really good ones too!) We’ve got books in the kitchen…
Books in the dining room…This is a new shelf we just bought, gotta love ikea for those great big shelves! As you can tell it still has a bunch of great big empty spots. Just an excuse to buy more books if you ask me.
This shelf is in the livingroom. It has gotten pretty full over the years, looks like it times to clean it up a bit.
Even the kid’s room is filled with books. These are just two of the shelves. The other two are next to the windows and the photos keep coming out too dark. My ten year old is a bit of a book junkie….makes a mom proud!
The other day I order the book Appendix A
by AM Homes, it is a bit of a sequel (or further look into) the disturbing book The End Of Alice
. While looking around on Amazon I saw she had a new book
coming out in April. Well being the impatient person I am, I decided to see if I could find an advance reading copy, and voila! I found a copy on half.com and soon the book will be in my eager little hands 3 months early! :) Granted it will be an uncorrected proof, but I dont mind at all! I thought I’d share that little tip with those of you who might be equally as bad at the waiting game.
