A look back at December

December seemed to really fly by this year, and since I did not blog at all during December I thought I’d share a few photos from the month. We made tons of snowflakes and strung them across the dining room with fishing line. There were gingerbread houses, and my son has really gotten into baking this past year so he made tons of cookies and packaged them up for his Christmas gifts. There was some stitching, and a few handmade gifts. I always have grand plans to make so many things, but I usually end up running out of time. We had a low key New Years Eve, stayed home and watched old & new family movies which is what we have done the past few years. My favorite kind of tradition.

Florida, the parks

When you’re in Orlando, how can you resist going to some of the parks? We knew that everyone would be going to the Magic Kingdom together one day, so we decided that Thomas, B, and I would also spend at a day Epcot, and Universal Studios. The last time we were in Disney we went to Universal Island Adventure park because it was the part of the park with the Harry Potter Hogsmeade. This time we did get a double park ticket (because we wanted to be able to take the new Hogwart’s Express train) but knew we’d be spending the bulk of the day in the park with Diagon Alley. It did not disappoint, frozen butterbeer, Gringotts, Knockturn Alley, and Borgin and Burkes. We loved it! The train ride is really amazing too, they did such a good job and the “story” is different in each direction.
Then of course there was The Simpsons area of the park. We loved it, bought one of the giant pink donuts which we shared that night (really tasty and soft). We ate dinner at Krusty Burger and took a look in Moes.

The Sunshine State

If you follow me on instagram you know that we recently took a family vacation to Orlando Florida. Thomas’s parents are Disney Vacation Club members and in an effort to have a big family vacation every couple of years they save up points and book a Disney resort for their kids families, and then we just need to get ourselves to Florida. I’m totally grateful for their generosity, and we always have such a great time. This time they booked us villas in the Wilderness Lodge. I was most excited that there was a big tub in the villa. I took full advantage of it, haha! While in Florida we all went to Magic Kingdom together, had two big family dinners and really enjoyed ourselves. I have a few more photos to share, but I’ll try not to overload you with vacation photos. The weather was really great the whole time and the one rainy morning Tom, B, and I went exploring around the area (Wizard head stores?) We found a Krispy Kreme too, and since we don’t have any around the area we live, its always exciting to stop in and watch the donuts get their glaze coating.
