Just Two Words Project: Swan & Kite

This week’s project was to create a set of stickers using the words swan and kite. At first I thought I would draw a bunch of birds flying kites (swans included) but I didn’t love them and they started to look a little odd. So I started making kite shapes directly in Photoshop and just went with making my kites. Once those were done I thought about a day at the park riding Swan boats and flying kites and so they seemed to go together well.
I wanted the stickers to look like those 3d puffy stickers.

Just Two Words Project: Fruit & Pennant

This week’s project was to design a phone case. I picked pennant and Jessee chose fruit. I thought it would be funny to draw a bunch of fruit people cheering on their team. In the end I added a wrinkly paper texture. I like how it makes them look like they were painted with watercolors and then cut out. Like a kid’s art project you might find on the refrigerator.

Just Two Words Project: Ice Cream & Giant

For this project I picked the word giant and Jessee picked ice cream. We decided to focus on an art print since it’s not what either of us are usually making. At first I had grand plans of making something with an actual giant, but couldn’t get into anything I was drawing. In the end I went with a girl who looks like a giant to a bug chowing down on an ice cream cone. I did something a bit different then I normally do by drawing outlines on everything, and in the end I didn’t love the effect, but I’m always glad to step outside my comfort zone and try something new.
