Summer Adventures

On one of our past Thursdays we took a little day trip up to the Harrisburg PA area. Our first stop was a really cool antique shop called Old Sled Works in Duncannon PA (that needs a whole post of its own!) We had lots of fun even though we were a little disappointed to find out the soda fountain inside is only open on weekends. Especially because the day we went the air conditioner was being repaired and it was hot hot hot!
After we left there we headed toward Harrisburg to check out The National Civil War Museum. Thats where the photo of that view comes in! It was very interesting and of course perfect for our little civil war buff.
We ended our day with our very first visit to The Melting Pot, an “all fondue” restaurant. It was so much fun! You start off with a cheese fondue with veggies, apples, and breads to dip. The next course is a fondue broth and we went with the vegetarian dinner option. It included things like veggies, ravioli, and tofu. Then they also set out all of these various little dips to pair with your cooked vegetables. Of course you finish off with a chocolate fondue. We went for the s’mores variety and they flambé the marshmallow topping, its all quite exciting. Its a long experience too, I think we were there just over two hours but it was the perfect way to end our fun day. I can’t wait for an excuse to go back.
